SJU’s Wheeler Earns Second MIAC Weekly Honor

COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. – Saint John's junior wide receiver Dylan Wheeler (St. Paul, Minn./Mounds View) was named the MIAC Football Offensive Player of the Week for the second time this season on Monday, Oct. 14.

Wheeler caught eight passes for 159 yards and two touchdowns, including the game-winning 76-yard score with 1:46 remaining, in the third-ranked Johnnies' 38-31 win on Saturday (Oct. 12) at Concordia. He leapt over the Cobber defensive back near the sideline to make the catch on the Concordia 46-yard line and sprinted the rest of the way to give SJU its first lead of the game. 

Wheeler has 99 receptions for 1,360 yards and 18 touchdowns over his last 14 games, including 45 catches for 612 yards and 10 touchdowns through the season's first five contests this fall. 

He is currently tied for the NCAA Division III lead in receiving touchdowns (10), is fourth in receptions per game (9.0) and eighth in receiving yards per game (122.4).

The Johnnies (5-0, 3-0 MIAC, 0-0 Northwoods) open Northwoods Division play by visiting Carleton (2-3, 1-2 MIAC, 0-1 Northwoods) for a 1 p.m. kickoff this Saturday, Oct. 19, at Laird Stadium in Northfield.
