MIAC Release
COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. – Saint John's seniors
Kevin Arthur (Champlin, Minn./Champlin Park) and
Brett Hague (Brainerd, Minn.) were named the MIAC Men's Track and Field Athletes of the Week, respectively, on Tuesday, May 2.
The weekly honor is the student-athletes' first of the season and second of their collegiate careers.
Arthur won both the 100- (10.56) and 200-meter (21.15) dashes, and served as the second leg of SJU's first-place 4x100-meter relay (41.24), on April 26 at Division I Minnesota's Running on Hope Invitational in Minneapolis. Arthur's time in the 200 broke his own program record (21.50) that he set in 2022 and is currently seventh in NCAA Division III this spring, while the time in the 100 is good for 20th. Both times lead the MIAC for Arthur, who won the MIAC outdoor title in both events last May.
Hague took second in the javelin with a season-best distance of 63.23 meters, which leads the MIAC and is good for eighth in Division III, at the Gophers' meet last Wednesday. He earned All-America honors in the event by finishing fourth with a personal-best mark of 65.06 meters, which is second in program history, at the 2022 NCAA Outdoor Championships. Tom Engwall '03 owns the SJU record at 67.80 meters.
The Johnnies travel to St. Thomas for the Joe Sweeney Invitational on Wednesday, May 3, and will call Northfield home for a pair of competitions, the MIAC Decathlon (Thursday-Friday, May 4-5) at Carleton and St. Olaf Open (Saturday, May 6), this week.
