NORTHFIELD, Minn. – Saint John's track and field competed in its final tune-up for next weekend's conference championships on Saturday, May 2, at St. Olaf's Ole Open.
SJU travels to Northfield for the 2026 MIAC Outdoor Championships next Friday (2 p.m.) and Saturday (noon), May 8-9, at St. Olaf.
Sophomore
Grady Minnerath (Cold Spring, Minn./Rocori) led the Johnnies with wins in the shot put (15.80 meters) and discus (46.52 meters). The mark in the discus was the fourth-best throw in the MIAC this season.
Sophomore
Jalen Graham (Minneapolis, Minn./Champlin Park) claimed third (13.65 meters) behind Minnerath in the shot put, followed by freshman
Laklen Vogel (Cold Spring, Minn./Rocori) in fourth (12.26 meters) and freshman
Sam Ruprecht (Avon, Minn./Holdingford) in fifth (11.77 meters). Ruprecht also placed fourth in the discus (40.74 meters).
Junior
Lars Molenkamp (Almere, Netherlands/Oostvaarders College) took second in the 1,500 meters with a time of 3:58.26, which was 0:00.24 from first place, and classmate
Max McCoy (Bennington, Neb./Mount Michael Benedictine) was fourth (4:02.31).
Juniors
Connor Brynteson (Minneapolis, Minn./Robbinsdale Cooper) and
Rylan Turqueza (Ewa Beach, Hawaii/Radford) were second (43.58 meters) and third (42.22 meters), respectively, in the hammer throw.
Senior
Josh Johnston (Cold Spring, Minn./Rocori) finished second, first among NCAA Division III competitors, in the pole vault (4.28 meters) and freshman
Austin Mohr (Alexandria, Minn.) was third (4.13 meters).
