Saint John's swimming and diving travels to face St. Olaf for a 1 p.m. dual meet this Saturday, Nov. 4, in Northfield. –

A LOOK AT THE JOHNNIES: Saint John's swimming and diving faced Hamline last Friday night (Oct. 27) in the Warner Palaestra Pool. The Johnnies competed against three Pipers (two swimmers and a diver) on the night.
Sophomore
Brayden Slavik (Green Isle, Minn./Chaska) won two events, the 200-yard backstroke (1:59.22) and 200-yard breaststroke (2:17.50), and freshman
Cody Watts (St. Cloud, Minn./Tech) – the reigning MIAC Men's Diver of the Week – swept both the 1- (224.85) and 3-meter (217.80) dives.
SJU totaled six other first-place marks/times and swam uncontested in the two relays:

Jack Davies (St. Michael, Minn./St. Michael-Albertville) in the 1,000-yard freestyle (11:14.82);
-Sophomore
Sam Edwards (Burnsville, Minn.) in the 200-yard individual medley (2:11.40);
-Junior
Colby Kern (Delano, Minn.) in the 50-yard freestyle (22.08);
-Freshman
Alex King (Minot, N.D.) in the 200-yard freestyle (1:49.45);
-Junior
Carter Larson (Sartell, Minn./Sartell-St. Stephen) in the 200-yard butterfly (2:09.18);
-Freshman
Simon Nyangamoi (Harrisburg, S.D.) in the 100-yard freestyle (51.86).
A LOOK AT THE OLES: St. Olaf last competed at the non-scored Cows, Colleges, and Contentment Classic last Saturday (Oct. 28) in Northfield. Sophomore William Wallace was the lone Ole to win an event, the 50-yard freestyle (22.33), in the meet that included Carleton, Division II St. Cloud State and Wisconsin-La Crosse. STO also collected five second-place finishes in the meet. Senior Marcus Hauck was second in both the 100- (54.34) and 200-yard (2:06.33) backstrokes, while sophomore Aiden Yung took second in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:19.33) and 400-yard individual medley (4:27.45).
LAST YEAR'S DUAL: SJU posted a 201.5-94.5 win over St. Olaf last Nov. 4 (2022) in the Warner Palaestra Pool. The Johnnies won 13 of the 16 events and collected 32 top-three marks/times.
Junior
Liam Noble (Plymouth, Minn./Benilde-St. Margaret's) placed first in the 100-yard backstroke (54.75) and 100-yard butterfly (54.28), while a pair of freshmen - now sophomores - also won two events on the evening.
Clay Megaw (Monticello, Minn.) touched the wall first in the 100- (1:02.89) and 200-yard (2:22.99) breaststrokes, while
Carsten Reuter (St. Cloud, Minn./Tech) did the same in the 50- (22.08) and 100-yard (48.54) freestyles.
Larson took first in the 200-yard freestyle (1:48.04) and second in the 500-yard freestyle (5:04.31).
Ethan Huber '23 won the 200-yard backstroke (2:07.07) and took second in the 200-yard freestyle (1:52.49), and junior
Connor Thayer (Prior Lake, Minn.) claimed top honors in the 1,000-yard freestyle (10:42.81).
Jack Grabinski '23 won both the 1- (280.35) and 3-meter (293.85) dives, edging his younger brother, junior
Eli Grabinski (Sauk Rapids, Minn./Sauk Rapids-Rice), in both events (275.95 and 255.50).
SJU claimed first place in both the 200-yard medley (1:39.59;
Beau Brinkman, Megaw, Noble, Reuter) and 400-yard freestyle (3:17.40; Noble, Reuter,
Colby Kern, Larson) relays.
