Saint John's travels to New York this weekend (Nov. 24-25) for a pair of games, beginning with a 7:30 p.m. ET puck-drop at No. 3 Utica on Friday. The Johnnies then play either Elmira (N.Y.) or No. 8 Oswego State (N.Y.) at 4 p.m. ET Saturday.

A LOOK AT THE JOHNNIES: Saint John's (2-5, 1-3 MIAC) were swept by then-No. 8 St. Scholastica last week despite out-shooting the Saints, 77-42.
No. 8 St. Scholastica 4, at Saint John's 2 – Nov. 16
The Johnnies posted a 34-22 advantage in shots, including 14-5 in the third period, but suffered a 4-2 loss in St. Cloud. The Johnnies hit the pipe twice in the first period and attempted 32 shots in the third (14 on net, 10 blocked and eight wide).
St. Scholastica scored goals on its first two shots on net, both from Jacob Seitz, at 5:27 and 8:55 of the opening period. Senior defenseman
Jack Olsen (Lakeville, Minn.) put SJU on the scoreboard with his second goal in as many games, his second of the season and sixth of his career, with 3:20 left in the first period.
Nathan Adrian gave CSS a two-goal lead again on a two-man breakaway 1:32 into the second period, five seconds after freshman forward
Chris Kernan (Maple Grove, Minn.) was denied by the Saints' Jack Bostedt on a two-man breakaway for SJU.

Logan Lyke (Medina, Minn.) cut SJU's deficit to 3-2 with his second collegiate goal 6:09 into the third period. He intercepted an errant CSS pass and ripped a wrister past Bostedt from the slot. Arkhip Ledenkov, however, ended the Johnnies' threat on an empty-net goal with 56 seconds remaining. Sophomore goaltender

at No. 8 St. Scholastica 3, Saint John's 0 – Nov. 18
SJU out-shot CSS by a 43-20 margin but failed to find the back of the net in a 3-0 loss to end the weekend series in Duluth.
SJU recorded the game's first nine shots on goal, finishing with a 14-5 advantage, but was whistled for two offensive-zone penalties in the first period. The shot total increased to a 30-8 margin, but CSS' eighth shot on net was a goal for Seitz with 55 seconds left in the second period.
Carsen Richels made it 2-0 with a power-play goal halfway through the third period (10:01) and Isaac Suppin ended the scoring with 45 seconds remaining, nine seconds after SJU killed off a 5-on-3 power play. Junior goaltender
Bailey Huber (Mahtomedi, Minn.) made 17 saves in the loss. The Johnnies won 50 of the 81 faceoffs and finished 0-for-5 on the power play to the Saints' 1-for-6 showing.

A LOOK AT THE PIONEERS: Utica (6-0-2, 5-0-1 UCHC) remained unbeaten with a pair of convincing wins last weekend – 5-0 (Nov. 18) and 5-1 (Nov. 19) – over Wilkes (Pa.), which was receiving votes at the time. Freshman forward Vladislav Pshenichnikov netted a pair of goals in the 5-0 win, while senior defenseman Brian Scoville, sophomore forward Michael Herrera and senior forward Jakob Breault each netted one. In goal, sophomore Ethan Roberts completed his first shutout with 31 saves as Utica out-shot the Colonels 50-31 on goal. The Pioneers wasted no time to get going in their 5-1 victory on as they tallied three goals and held a 3-0 advantage after the first period. Freshman forward Aiden Hughes scored both of the team's power-play goals, while Scoville, fifth-year forward Dante Spagnuolo and freshman forward Alexander Gullichsen. Junior goaltender Bryan Landsberger got the start in net and made 22 saves for his first win of the season. Utica returns two of its seven All-UCHC selections and none of the three CCM/AHCA Division lll All-Americans from 2022-23. Senior defenseman Kimball Johnson made the All-UCHC second team last season and has five points (2g/3a), while Landsberger made the first team and has a .944 save percentage and a 1.56 GAA. Breault leads the team with 10 points (5g/5a). Utica moved up one spot to No. 3 in Monday's (Nov. 20) USCHO.com poll.
THE LAST TIME: The Johnnies lost their lone matchup against Utica, a 4-2 decision on Nov. 27, 2015; the last time SJU made the trip to Utica's Thanksgiving tournament. The Pioneers built a 4-0 lead before forward Neal Smith '16 put SJU on the scoreboard 6:39 into the third period and defenseman Sean Lang '19 added a shorthanded goal with 2:33 remaining. Shots were even at 32 apiece, though SJU posted an 11-8 edge in the third period.
A LOOK AT THE SOARING EAGLES: Elmira (6-2, 2-2 NEHC) upset No. 5 Geneseo State (N.Y.) with a 6-2 win last night (Nov. 21). Senior forward Nicholas Domitrovic scored a hat trick to lead the Soaring Eagles, who were out-shot 41-30. Domitrovic leads the team in all three offensive categories: goals (9), assists (9), points (18) and shots (32). Two other senior forwards, Shawn Kennedy (4g/7a) and Janis Vizbelis (6g/5a), are next with 11 points apiece. Sophomore goaltender Kyle Curtin is 5-2 with a 2.61 GAA and a .913 save percentage. Senior forward Chance Gorman and senior defenseman Amedeo Mastrangeli earned All-NEHC first-team honors last season, and sophomore forward Kerfalla Toure made the NEHC All-Rookie Team. Elmira received votes in the latest USCHO.com poll.
SERIES HISTORY: SJU is 2-0-1 all-time against Elmira with the last meeting occurring Nov. 25, 2002, on the Soaring Eagles' home ice (an 8-7 win in overtime).

A LOOK AT THE LAKERS: Oswego State (5-2, 4-1 SUNYAC) split a pair of one-goal games last week. The Lakers picked up a 2-1 win at Brockport State (N.Y.) last Friday (Nov. 17) before taking a 2-1 loss at home to then-No. 5 Geneseo State (N.Y.) on Saturday. Senior forward Rocco Andreacchi scored the first goal of the game 2:17 into the second period Friday. Brockport matched the goal later in the second before sophomore forward Matt McQuade tallied the game-winner, his first goal of the season, at the 11:10 mark of the third. Sophomore goaltender Brandon Milberg earned the win with 37 saves. Saturday's game was tightly contested as Geneseo held a 2-0 advantage going into the third period. Junior forward Daniel Colabufo finally put the Lakers on the board with 3:20 left in the game, but that was it. The Lakers out-shot Geneseo 41-23 and went 0-for-6 on the power play in the loss. Oswego returns a pair of All-SUNYAC layers from a season ago. An All-SUNYAC third-team honoree, senior forward Shane Bull leads the Lakers in goals (5), assists (8), shots (29) and plus-minus (+11). Sophomore goaltender Cal Schell, who earned All-Rookie team honors last season, is 3-2 with a shutout, .891 save percentage and 2.25 GAA. Oswego State dropped three spots to No. 8 in this week's USCHO.com poll.
SERIES HISTORY: The series between Saint John's and Oswego State is tied at 1-1, in which both games were held at a neutral site. The Lakers tallied a power-play goal 5:41 into the second period and added an insurance goal, even strength, 5:26 into the third in their 2-0 win eight years ago. Total shots were even at 25-25. SJU went 0-for-5 on the power play (0-for-7 on the weekend). Goaltender Saxton Soley '16 made 23 saves in the loss, which was SJU's sixth game against a ranked opponent already that season (2-2-2 record).
