COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. – No. 17 St. Olaf erased a 2-0 deficit with four second-half goals to defeat Saint John's 4-2 on Saturday, Oct. 21, at Haws Field.

Despite the loss, SJU (7-5-4, 4-3-2 MIAC) clinched its 13th MIAC Playoff appearance (10th in the last 11 seasons) with Saint Mary's 2-0 loss at No. 4 Carleton on Saturday.

The Johnnies gained a 1-0 lead on an own goal 13:47 into the game when sophomore defender Noah Hermanson (St. Paul, Minn./Holy Angels) sent a long volley to the box and a St. Olaf defender deflected the ball past his own goalkeeper.

Sophomore forward Riley Buxell (Afton, Minn./Stillwater Area) made it 2-0 with a beautiful shot inside the left post for his third goal of the season in the 30th minute. Freshman midfielder Andrew Pitzner (Maple Grove, Minn./Heritage Christian Academy) tallied the assist.

Robi Buzakovic cut the deficit in half for STO (12-3-1, 7-0-1 MIAC) in the 55th minute and Victor Gaulmin tied it 1:02 later with his 10th goal of the season. An own goal proved to be the deciding tally in the 59th minute and Ian Holtz-Hazeltine added some insurance in the 77th minute.

Junior goalkeeper Evan Siefken (Lakeville, Minn./North) made eight saves in the loss. The Oles posted a 21-15 advantage in shots (12-5 on goal) and a 13-2 margin in corner kicks.

The Johnnies wrap up the regular-season schedule by hosting No. 4 Carleton at 3:30 p.m. next Saturday, Oct. 28, in Collegeville.
