COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. – Saint John's sophomore goaltender Bailey Huber (Mahtomedi, Minn./Holy Family Catholic) and senior post Mitchell Plombon (St. Cloud, Minn./Cathedral) earned MIAC Athlete of the Week honors on Jan. 16.

Plombon was named the MIAC Men's Basketball Offensive Player of the Week and Huber received MIAC Men's Hockey Defensive of the Week accolades for the second time this season.

Plombon averaged 23.5 points and 11.0 rebounds, while shooting 76 percent (19-for-25) from the field, in a pair of wins for SJU last week. With SJU without two of its starters Wednesday night against Concordia, Plombon played a career-high 41 minutes and totaled 25 points, on 10-for-14 shooting, and 13 rebounds for his second double-double of the season and fifth of his career in the 70-63, overtime victory. He led all scorers again with 22 points and fell one rebound shy of his third-straight double-double in Saturday's 83-69 win over Bethel. 

Plombon currently leads the MIAC in shooting percentage at .642 (77-for-120), which is currently 12th in NCAA Division III (seventh among those with 120 shot attempts or more).

The Johnnies (10-4, 7-2 MIAC) host Carleton (12-2, 7-2 MIAC) in a battle for first place in the conference standings at 7 p.m. tonight in Sexton Arena.

Huber, meanwhile, made a career-high 41 saves in the Johnnies' 3-2, neutral-site upset of No. 10 Wisconsin-Stevens Point on Saturday night in Sartell. The victory came after he posted both wins in net, a 0.50 GAA and a .967 save percentage (29 saves) in the Jan. 6-7 sweep of Gustavus Adolphus. Huber touts a 7-2-2 record and leads the MIAC in both GAA (1.44) and save percentage (.945) this season.

SJU (9-6-2, 5-2-1 MIAC) returns to MIAC play with a home game against Hamline (8-6-1, 1-5-0 MIAC) at 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 19, at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center in St. Cloud. The two teams complete the series at 7 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 21, at the TRIA Rink in St. Paul.
