The Johnnie hockey team returns to conference play this weekend against St. Olaf, beginning with a 7 p.m. puck-drop on Friday, Feb. 11, in Northfield. The two teams conclude the series with a 1 p.m. game on Saturday, Feb. 12, at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center in St. Cloud.

SPECTATOR POLICY AT ST. OLAF: Attendance at St. Olaf home games is limited to two spectators per student-athlete per team and guest names must be submitted through a pass list with one of the teams in advance of each game. All fans at St. Olaf home games must provide proof of vaccination upon entry to the venue. Guests must also leave campus at the conclusion of the game and not congregate with student-athletes afterwards.

A LOOK AT THE JOHNNIES: Seven different Johnnies scored a goal in Saint John's (13-6-2, 6-3-1 MIAC) 8-3 non-conference win over Hamline Monday night (Feb. 7) at the Municipal Athletic Complex in St. Cloud. SJU out-shot the Pipers by a slim 37-35 margin and went 3-for-5 on the power play.

SJU jumped out to a 3-0 lead on nine shots in the first period. Freshman forward
Spencer Rudrud (Eden Prairie, Minn.) started the scoring with his fifth goal of the year 3:23 into the game. Sophomore forward
Lewis Crosby (Edina, Minn.) tallied his team-leading 15th goal with 6:10 left in the opening frame and junior forward
Joe Papa (St. Charles, Ill.) registered his second collegiate goal at the 18:20 mark.
HU erased the shutout 3:05 into the second period before the Johnnies scored five straight goals, including a four in the second. Moore made it 4-1 with a power-play tally at the 8:32 mark and freshman forward
Cody Carlson (Buffalo, Minn.) added to the lead 2:26 later. Goals from Borst and Moore, again, gave the home team a 7-1 lead entering the third period.
Sophomore defenseman
Max Osborne (Anchorage, Alaska) scored the Johnnies' third power-play goal of the evening 4:26 into the final frame.
The Pipers ended the games scoring with a pair of goals in the final four minutes, including a 5-on-3 power play tally with 55 seconds remaining.
Senior goaltender
Michael Magnuson (Sunfish Lake, Minn.) made his fifth start of the season and stopped 32 shots in the win (3-2 record).
8 GOALS: Monday's result was the Johnnies' 20th game of eight goals or more since 2000 (and 43rd of seven goals or more).Â
FOUR-POINTERS: Monday's four-point game was Moore's four of his career. As simply a multi-point game, the contest served as his fifth of the season and 14th of his career (seventh of three points or more). Each of Moore's last four goals scored were on the power play (over the last five games). Moore has played all 21 games this season and leads the Johnnies in points with 22 (10g/12a).

A LOOK AT THE OLES: St. Olaf (8-12-3, 5-6-1 MIAC) snapped a five-game losing streak with a pair of one-goal wins over Hamline last weekend (2-1 in overtime Friday in St. Paul and 6-5 Saturday in Northfield). The MIAC sweep was the Oles' first in nearly six years (Feb. 5-6, 2016). Freshman forward Tyler Cooper leads the team in goals (11), power-play goals (4) and points (19), while freshman forwards Ethan Hersant (4g/11a) and Sean Walsh (8g/7a) are tied for second with 15 apiece. Sophomore Lukas Haugen is tops among STO's four goaltenders with a 5-4 record, 2.98 GAA and a .903 save percentage (233 saves).
TWO YEARS AGO: SJU swept St. Olaf with a pair of shutouts the last time the two teams met during the 2019-20 season.

Senior goaltender
Mac Berglove (Elk River, Minn.) made 31 saves to record his second shutout of the season and third of his career in the series opener. Wieber scored a pair of goals and forward
Ryan Kero '21 tallied two assists as 10 different Johnnies recorded a point in the victory.Â
Davis Kirkendall opened the scoring for SJU with his seventh goal of the season 8:05 into the game and Tabor made it 2-0 with a power-play goal, his third tally of the season, with 6:36 left in the opening frame.
Wieber scored his first goal of the night, on a nifty one-timer to the far post from Moore, 5:05 into the second period and ended the game's scoring with his fourth goal of the season, on the power play, at the 16:17 mark of the third.
SJU went 2-for-4 on the power play and out-shot St. Olaf 34-31, thanks to a 12-7 advantage in the third period.

Following a scoreless first period, Kero scored what proved to be the game-winning goal, his team-leading ninth tally of the season, 8:06 into the second. Johnson added some insurance with an empty-netter, his fourth goal of the season, with 1:12 remaining.
Berglove made eight saves before leaving the game, due to injury, with 4:41 left in the first period. Andrew Lindgren '21 made 23 saves the rest of the way to preserve the shutout and improve to 3-6-2 on the year.
The Oles out-shot SJU 31-29 but went 0-for-5 (0-for-7 on the weekend) on the power play.
SERIES HISTORY: SJU is 51-27-4 against St. Olaf since the 1984-85 season, including a 12-4-1 record in the last 17 meetings.
