COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. – Saint John's senior cornerback
John Kohler (Birchwood, Wis./Rice Lake) was named the MIAC Football Defensive Player of the Week on Monday, Nov. 7.
Kohler intercepted two passes in the end zone, one in the first quarter and the other in the second, as SJU held Carleton to 221 yards of offense and a 5-for-13 showing on third down in the 45-16 home win last Saturday (Nov. 5). He currently leads the team with four interceptions and is tied for the team lead with eight passes defended this fall.
No. 5 SJU (8-1, 6-1 MIAC, 4-0 Northwoods) hosts No. 9 Bethel (8-1, 7-0 MIAC, 4-0 Skyline) in the MIAC Championship game at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, in Clemens Stadium. The game's winner earns the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III playoffs.
