Late Goals Sink SJU in Moorhead

Box Score

MOORHEAD, Minn. – Concordia scored a pair of late goals to defeat Saint John's 2-1 on a warm (89 degrees) and windy (south at 18 MPH) Tuesday, Sept. 28, in Moorhead.

Telvin Vah tied the game for Concordia (3-7, 1-3 MIAC) late in the 72nd minute and scored the game-winning goal with 1:26 remaining.

Junior midfielder Matt D. Anderson (Omaha, Neb./Creighton Prep) gave SJU (4-4-1, 1-2-0 MIAC) an early 1-0 lead with his third goal of the season - and sixth of his career - 4:18 into the game. The tally was déjà vu to Anderson's first collegiate goal, which was 3:39 into SJU's 1-0 win on Sept. 18, 2019, at Concordia.

Freshman Evan Siefken (Lakeville, Minn./North) made three saves in the loss.

The Johnnies play host to Augsburg for a 12:30 p.m. game this Saturday, Oct. 2, at Haws Field.
