COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. – The Saint John's University athletic department will hold its third annual Go Johnnies Challenge - a 24-hour, online giving campaign - on Thursday, Sept. 2.

The goal of the Go Johnnies Challenge is 650 donors for the university's 650-plus varsity and club student-athletes. Monetary gifts can be designated toward specific sport programs and the general athletic department, as well as athletic training, strength and conditioning and the J-Club.

"This is an incredible opportunity for our varsity and club sport programs," said SJU athletic director Bob Alpers '82. "Every gift, every size makes a difference as 100 percent of the dollars raised go directly to the sport. I'm grateful for all the help by our friends in Institutional Advancement that have worked so hard to make this day possible.

"We are so appreciative for the support we have received in the past and for the out-pouring of support we've received for our student-athletes. Your generosity inspires us. Please help us to continue to enhance the student-athlete experience at SJU."

Friends of SJU Athletics are encouraged to donate to the sport/s of their choosing and/or challenge their friends and teammates with a matching gift (per donor, preferably).

The inaugural campaign garnered 1,110 donors in 2019. Although the 2020 Go Johnnies Challenge was postponed in April due to the COVID-19 pandemic, 228 generous donors contributed. The rescheduled Go Johnnies Challenge produced 1,066 donors last September.
