Johnnies Compete at Midweek Tommie Twilight

ST. PAUL, Minn. - Saint John's track and field won five events at St. Thomas' Tommie Twilight, the final tune-up before next week's MIAC Outdoor Championships, on Wednesday, May 5, at O'Shaughnessy Stadium.

Senior Ryan Miller (Maple Grove, Minn./Totino-Grace) won the 200-meter dash with a season-best time of 22.20 seconds and sophomore Lloyd Young (Bloomington, Minn./Kennedy) won the 1,500 meters (4:01.37).

SJU recorded the top four heights in the pole vault, led by junior Shawn Schindler (Maple Grove, Minn.) and sophomore Joe Stauffer (Cambridge, Minn./Cambridge-Isanti) in a tie for first at 4.46 meters. Senior Drew Dockendorf (Sauk Rapids, Minn./Holdingford) and Joe Charbonneau (New Richmond, Wis.) were close behind at 4.31 meters.

Freshman Carter Grove (Osakis, Minn.) led four Johnnies uncontested in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (10:20.73), while SJU's 4x100-meter relay team (Jack Young, Kevin Arthur, Brady Labine, Miller) won the event in 42.00 seconds.

Junior Sam Rademacher (Marshall, Minn.) and sophomore Brett Hague (Brainerd, Minn.) placed second in the high jump (1.80 meters) and javelin (48.30 meters), respectively.

The Johnnies finished third in five events:

-Sophomore Kevin Arthur (Champlin, Minn./Champlin Park) in the 100-meter dash (11.17);
-Sophomores Nathan Clausing (Big Lake, Minn.) and Alexei Hensel (Buffalo, Minn.) tied in the 800 meters (1:56.01);
-Sophomore Alex Crnkovich (Omaha, Neb./Mount Michael Benedictine) in the triple jump (12.94 meters);
-Sophomore Jaeden Frost (Omro, Wis.) in the shot put (13.07 meters);
-Freshman Austin Kalthoff (Belgrade, Minn./Melrose Area) in the 400-meter hurdles (59.14).

Three Johnnies - sophomores Maguire Petersen (Hutchinson, Minn.) and Mason DeGross (New Prague, Minn.), and freshman Logan Hennen (Prior Lake, Minn.) - compete Thursday-Friday, May 6-7, at the MIAC Decathlon held at Carleton's Laird Stadium in Northfield.
