SJU in Third After Round 1 of GAC Invite

Round 1 Results

NEW PRAGUE, Minn. – Saint John's golf is in third place out of 15 teams following the first round of Gustavus Adolphus' Bobby Krig Invitational on Sunday, April 18, at New Prague G.C. (par 71).

Wisconsin-Eau Claire leads the field by five shots with an 11-over par 295, ahead of No. 22 St. Thomas (+16, 300) and SJU (+18, 302).

Freshman Glavine Schugel (New Ulm, Minn.) led SJU with five birdies and a 2-over par 73, which ties him for fifth out of 79 golfers.

Sophomore Thomas Gutzmer (Jordan, Minn.) was close behind with a 74 (+3) and freshman Nate Loxtercamp (Richmond, Minn./Melrose Area) carded a 75 (+4).

Freshman Sam Berger (Waconia, Minn.) led SJU Blue, which is one shot behind No. 24 Gustavus in a tie with Bethel for fifth at 309 (+25), with a 75 (+4).

The second and final round is scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday, April 19, at Le Sueur C.C. (par 70).
