COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. - Saint John's University has announced its spectator policy for the 2021 spring, and fall-to-spring, sports.
SJU's spectator policy and venue capacities are subject to change and are reviewed daily based on the latest Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) and Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) COVID-19 protocols.
For all SJU events, regardless of sport, the following policies apply:Â
-Masks are required at all times, even outdoors.
-Spectators must maintain 6 feet of social distancing (and 12 feet from student-athletes/coaches/staff).
-Fans/parents are required to remain in their seats for the duration of the event (no moving seats, socializing, etc.) and are not allowed to gather with the student-athletes at the conclusion of the competition.
-No pets or sunflower seeds are allowed in or around any venue.
The sport-by-sport policies are listed below, in alphabetical order.
BASEBALL (SJU's Haugen Field at Becker Park)
-Spectators will be limited to SJU baseball parents first, then CSB/SJU students and staff (with a CSB/SJU ID) on a first-come, first-served basis for the remaining seats available. The baseball parents will receive an online document for pre-registration.
-No fans from the opposing team will be allowed until the MIAC Tournament held May 20-22.
-Spectators allowed in Becker Park may sit in groups of 4. Available seating areas will be labeled.
-The area above the dugouts in Becker Park are reserved for the student-athletes (for additional social distance seating).
-No tailgating or gatherings in the parking lot or around the stadium will be allowed before, during or after the game/s.
FOOTBALL (SJU's Clemens Stadium)
-Spectator capacity will be determined at a later date, based on the scrimmage/game schedule.
GOLF
-Spectator attendance will be determined by the golf course.
-If spectators are allowed, they must stay with their team for the entire round and maintain a 6-foot distance from each other, as well as a 15-yard distance from the student-athletes and coaches. Fans are to stay even or ahead of play in the rough, and out of the fairways, to not slow down the group behind them.
SOCCER
Indoors (SJU's Skalicky Dome)
-No fans are allowed.
Outdoors (SJU's Haws Field)
-Spectators will be limited to SJU soccer parents first, then CSB/SJU students and staff (with a CSB/SJU ID) on a first-come, first-served basis for the spaces available. The soccer parents will receive a document for pre-registration.
-No fans from the opposing team will be allowed at this time.Â
-Spectators allowed in and around Haws Field may sit in groups of 4. Available seating areas will be labeled.
TENNIS
Indoors (Sta-Fit in Sartell)
-No fans are allowed.
Outdoors (SJU's Chang Tennis Complex)
-Spectators will be limited to SJU tennis parents first, then CSB/SJU students and staff (with a CSB/SJU ID) on a first-come, first-served basis for the remaining seats available. The tennis parents will receive a document for pre-registration.
-No fans from the opposing team will be allowed at this time.
-Spectators allowed at the Chang Tennis Complex may sit in groups of 4. Available seating areas will be labeled. No fans will be allowed inside the tennis court area.
OUTDOOR TRACK & FIELD (SJU's Clemens Stadium)
-The ability to welcome spectators depends on the size of the meet (the number of teams competing, men's only or both genders, etc.). The competing teams and general public will be notified the week of.
-Fans are not allowed on the competition surface or within 12 feet of the throws area.Â
