MIAC Release

COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. – Saint John's University sophomores Jack Grabinski (Sauk Rapids, Minn./Sauk Rapids-Rice) and Auggie Moore (Edina, Minn./Benilde-St. Margaret's) were named the MIAC Men's Athlete of the Week in their respective sports on Monday, March 1.

Grabinski won both the 1- (475.70) and 3-meter (492.50) dives at Gustavus Adolphus' diving invitational last Saturday (Feb. 27). He displayed a steady progression through the condensed schedule's first three competitions: 446.75-463.90-488.05 on the 1-meter and 426.45-451.05-542.05 on the 3-meter. 

The Johnnie divers added an impromptu dual competition for 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 2, at Division II St. Cloud State. Grabinski is expected to be joined by classmates Christian Pfau (Williston, N.D.) and Connor Reed (Elk River, Minn./Spectrum) at the Halenbeck Hall Pool.

Moore, meanwhile, recorded four points (2g/2a) as the SJU hockey team (4-2-1, 2-0-1 MIAC) went 1-0-1 in MIAC play last week. He collected three points (1g/2a), including what proved to be the game-winning goal, in Feb. 25's 4-2 home victory over Augsburg. Moore then scored a power-play goal in Friday's 2-2 tie at St. Thomas. He has eight points (3g/5a) over his last four contests and 36 (15g/21a) in 32 career games.

The Johnnies' home game against Gustavus Adolphus, scheduled for tonight (March 1), has been canceled. Two other games - Saturday (March 6) at Hamline and next Tuesday (March 9) vs. Saint Mary's - are postponed and will be rescheduled to a later date if circumstances allow.
