The Johnnie hockey team returns to non-conference play with a pair of road games in Wisconsin this weekend, beginning with a 7 p.m. puck-drop against Concordia on Friday, Dec. 10, in Mequon, Wis. SJU then faces Lawrence at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 11, in Appleton, Wis.

A LOOK AT THE JOHNNIES: Saint John's (6-4-1, 4-2-0 MIAC) extended its win streak to four games with a weekend sweep of Gustavus Adolphus, 5-1 and 4-1.

SJU scored the game's final four goals in a 5-1 win over Gustavus last Thursday (Dec. 2) at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center (HBNHC) in St. Cloud. The Johnnies out-shot the Gusties 46-35, including a 34-24 margin after the first period, and broke a 1-1 tie with three goals in a 3:46 span in the second period.
Sophomore forward
Max Borst (Edina, Minn.) started the game's scoring with a rebound goal, his third tally of the season, 3:34 into the contest.
Tyler Ebner tied the game for Gustavus with a wraparound goal 5:01 into the second period, but SJU answered with the three-goal outburst in the second half of the frame. Freshman forward
Spencer Rudrud (Eden Prairie, Minn.) gave the lead back to SJU with his second goal of the season at the 12:22 mark. Junior captain
Auggie Moore (Edina, Minn.) followed with his third goal 3:29 later and sophomore forward
Nick Michel (Waconia, Minn.) made it 4-1 with an unassisted tally, his fifth of the season, 17 seconds after that.

Mac Berglove (Elk River, Minn.) tied a season high with 34 saves in the victory.
Saint John's 4, at Gustavus Adolphus 1
The Johnnies completed the weekend sweep of Gustavus with a 4-1 road win - the team's fourth consecutive victory - Saturday night (Dec. 4) in St. Peter. SJU tallied a pair of goals 32 seconds apart in an over-powering first period. SJU out-shot the Gusties 14-2 in the opening stanza and both of GAC's shots on goal occurred in the game's first 34 seconds.
Michel put SJU on the scoreboard with his team-leading sixth goal - and 10th point of the season - with 4:55 left in the first period. Michel also had a goal disallowed due to a high stick with 9:46 remaining in regulation.
Rudrud made it 2-0 with his third collegiate goal, and second of the series, 32 seconds later.
Josh Maucieri extended the visitors' lead to 3-0, his second goal in as many games, with 7:17 left in the second period.
Jack Westlund ended the shutout for GAC with a power-play goal, the Gusties' first of the season (1-for-23), 6:24 into the third period. The two-goal deficit did not last long, however, as Moore gave the three-goal margin back to the Johnnies with his 20th career goal 40 seconds later.
Berglove made 19 saves to improve to 6-2-1 on the year.
MIAC ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Berglove was named the MIAC Men's Hockey Athlete of the Week on Monday for his performance - a 1.00 GAA and an .964 save percentage (53 saves) - against the Gusties.
He is 4-0 with a 1.24 GAA and a .949 save percentage (94 saves) during the win streak (6-2-1 with a 1.52 GAA and a .939 save percentage overall). Berglove currently leads the MIAC in wins (4) and GAA (1.31) in conference play and is first in save percentage (.939) and wins (6) overall.
MOORE POINTS: Moore enters the weekend riding a six-game point streak (4g/3a) and is tied with Rudrud for second on the team with eight (4g/4a) overall. He has 48 points (20g/28a), including seven game-winning goals, in 46 career games.
STREAK STATS: Berglove (1.24 GAA, .949 save percentage and Moore (4g/1a) are not the only Johnnies who have been hot during SJU's current four-game win streak. In total, 18 different Johnnies have a recorded a point over the four games, with Moore, Michel (3g/2a) and Rudrud (2g/3a) leading the way with five apiece.
HAVING THE GUSTIES' NUMBER: With Thursday's win, SJU improved to 25-5-3 against GAC at home since the 1992-93 season (a 23-4-3 record in the last 30 games at the HBNHC). SJU has won each of the last seven meetings overall and is 11-2-2 in the last 15 against GAC.

A LOOK AT THE FALCONS: Concordia (1-8-2, 0-5-1 NCHA) saw its winless streak extend to nine games (0-7-2 record) with a pair of losses to then-No. 14 St. Norbert (Wis.), 7-1 and 10-2, last weekend. Junior forward Alex Way leads CUW with eight points (1g/7a), while senior defenseman Cory Dennis is one of four Falcons with six. Dennis touts a team-leading four goals. Three goaltenders have combined for a 5.01 GAA and a .888 save percentage in net, as the Falcons have been out-shot 502-302 so far this season.
SERIES HISTORY: SJU is 3-2-2 all-time against CUW and 2-0-1 in Mequon, Wis. The Falcons, however, have won the last two meetings (both in St. Cloud).
A LOOK AT THE VIKINGS: Lawrence (4-5-1, 2-4-0 NCHA) earned a weekend split with Aurora (Ill.) Dec. 3-4 at home. The Vikings dropped the opener, 6-2, before bouncing back with a 4-1 win. Junior forward Zack Olen leads the team in goals (6) and points (14), and is tied for the team lead in assists (8). Senior Alex Mosquera has played the bulk of the minutes in goal and is 2-4-1 with a 3.91 GAA and a .910 save percentage (274 saves).
SERIES HISTORY: The Johnnies are a perfect 11-0 all-time against the Vikings, including a 4-0 record in Appleton, Wis. SJU won the last meeting with a 6-1 score on Nov. 27, 2016, in St. Cloud.
