MASKS REQUIRED: Per MIAC guidelines, all spectators and event staff must be masked at indoor athletic events, regardless of vaccination status.

STUDENT BUS AVAILABLE: Thanks to the SJU Senate, a bus will be available for CSB/SJU students for Saturday night's game. The bus departs the SJU Abbey Bell Banner at 6 p.m. (6:05 p.m. pickup from Flynntown) and leaves CSB's HCC at 6:20 p.m.

A LOOK AT THE JOHNNIES: Saint John's (1-0 overall) opened its 2021-22 season with a 1-0 shutout of Wisconsin-Eau Claire last Saturday (Oct. 30) at the HBNHC. Senior goaltender Mac Berglove (Elk River, Minn.) made 34 saves to earn his fourth career shutout. The Blugolds, who were picked to win the WIAC in the conference's preseason coaches' poll, went 4-3-1 in the shortened 2020-21 season and 22-4-2 (11-3-1 WIAC) in 2019-20.

Sophomore forward Nick Michel (Waconia, Minn.), a transfer from Division I Alabama-Huntsville, scored the game's lone goal 3:28 into his Johnnie debut. Senior defenseman Cole Souto (Yorba Linda, Calif.) ripped a shot from the left faceoff circle and the save bounced up the slot to junior forward Henry Enebak (Lakeville, Minn.), who followed suit with a shot-on-goal of his own. The rebound found Michel, who sent a shot through the five-hole.

The Blugolds out-shot SJU by a 34-28 margin, thanks to a 16-10 showing in the third period. The two teams combined for 17 penalties (for 56 minutes).

USCHO POLL: For the first time since February 2018, SJU cracked the USCHO.com's top 15 poll when the rankings debuted Monday (Nov. 1). Concordia-Moorhead (15), Augsburg (14), MSOE (11) and Gustavus Adolphus (3) received votes. SJU received votes in stretches during the 2018-19 and 2019-20 seasons.

A LOOK AT THE RAIDERS: The Milwaukee School of Engineering (0-0 overall) reached the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association's (NCHA) Harris Cup final and finished with a 10-7-2 record in 2020-21. The Raiders were picked to finish third in this year's NCHA preseason coaches' poll behind a pair of nationally ranked teams, No. 4 Adrian (Mich.) and No. 8 St. Norbert (Wis.).

All-NCHA goalie Logan Halladay, who recorded a .931 save percentage last season, has graduated, but the Raiders return 12 of their top 13 in points from the 2020-21 team. Senior forward Garrett Gintoli led the team in assists (13) and points (21), and senior defenseman Jack Nickels totaled 12 points (2g/10a). Both earned All-NCHA honors.

SERIES HISTORY: The Johnnies are 2-1 against the Raiders, with all three games decided by one goal. The first meeting was a 5-4 win for then-No. 7 SJU in a neutral-site game played on Nov. 28, 2004, in Menomonie, Wis. The Raiders, then-ranked No. 11 nationally, evened the series with a 3-2 overtime win on Dec. 9, 2011, at the Municipal Athletic Complex (MAC) in St. Cloud. The Johnnies upset then-No. 13 MSOE the last time these two teams met on Dec. 15, 2012, at the HBNHC.
