COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. - Saint John's University head football coach
Gary Fasching '81 has tested positive for the COVID-19 virus and is following required protocol.

After a thorough investigation, no other SJU student-athletes or coaches were deemed close contacts.
Defensive coordinator
Jerry Haugen (HO-gin) '76 (
right), a 46-year assistant coach with the program and the Johnnies' head baseball coach since 1978, will serve as SJU's acting head coach ahead of this Saturday's (Nov. 27) NCAA Division III second-round game against No. 6 Linfield (Ore.) in Collegeville. Kickoff between the fifth-ranked Johnnies (11-0 overall) and the Wildcats (10-0 overall) is scheduled for noon in Clemens Stadium.
Fasching, who has been fully vaccinated since April, will return to the SJU sidelines as soon as he clears COVID-19 protocols.
