Roe Signs With Northwoods League's St. Cloud Rox

7/26/2019 11:16:00 AM

COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. – Saint John's University rising sophomore catcher Ethan Roe (Golden Valley, Minn./Blake) signed with the Northwoods League's St. Cloud Rox on Thursday, July 25.

Roe joins an SJU teammate, senior Joey Stock (Cold Spring, Minn./Saint John's Prep), with the Rox and is the third Johnnie playing in the Northwoods League this summer. Senior outfielder Wyatt Ulrich (Indus, Minn./International Falls) is in his third season with the Bismarck Larks and was a NWL All-Star earlier this month.

Roe appeared in 37 games with 35 starts, including each of the Johnnies' last 28, behind the plate this spring. He batted .271 with 10 doubles, 18 runs and 17 RBI, and tied for the team lead with five sacrifice bunts.

Prior to signing with the Rox, Roe has been playing for the St. Anthony Hogs, a Class A amateur baseball team. He was selected to the 2018 Play Ball MN! All-Star Series, but declined in order to play for his American Legion team in Omaha that weekend.

The Rox wrap up a two-game series against the Larks with a 7:05 p.m. contest Friday, July 26, at Joe Faber Field in St. Cloud.

The Northwoods League is a 22-team, wood-bat summer baseball league for collegiate student-athletes. All players in the league must have NCAA eligibility remaining in order to participate. Players are not paid, so as to maintain their college eligibility.
