Fujan Departs SJU for Division I Alabama

7/1/2019 3:19:00 PM

COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. – Saint John's University swimming and diving head coach Reed Fujan announced his resignation to pursue an assistant position at Division I Alabama.

A search to find his replacement begins immediately: https://apps.csbsju.edu/employment/default.aspx?page=jobs.

Fujan also served as assistant strength and conditioning coach at SJU.

"I am very grateful for the experience I had during my time at Saint John's," Fujan said. "Everyone at SJU made a great impact during my time there and I am very thankful for all of the relationships I made. I truly believe there is a lot of potential with SJU Swimming & Diving and I cannot wait to see all of the good things that will come with this program."

A 2017 graduate of Notre Dame and a three-time All-American swimmer for the Fighting Irish, Fujan served as a volunteer assistant at Division I Indiana during the 2017-18 season prior to joining the Johnnies.

"We wish Reed the best at Alabama, and we are really excited to build on the momentum that was generated last year," SJU athletic director Bob Alpers '82 said. "With our core of terrific returning  student-athletes, incoming recruits and excellent facilities, we are sure to attract some outstanding candidates for this position."

The Johnnies finished fifth out of eight teams, four points from fourth, at the 2019 MIAC Championships in February.
