CoSIDA Release

COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. – Saint John's University junior third baseman Jack Schramel (St. Cloud, Minn./Cathedral) received Google Cloud Academic All-District VI recognition on Thursday, May 9.

Nominees must be of a sophomore academic standing or better, with a 3.30 GPA or higher. The Academic All-District teams are voted upon and selected by registered College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) members.

The Johnnies have now had 13 Academic All-District honorees in the last nine seasons.

An accounting major with a 3.45 GPA, Schramel has played all 39 games this spring and is currently second on the team in batting average (.343), hits (46), multi-hit games (16), doubles (10), home runs (2) and RBI (29). He became the 31st Johnnie to reach 100 career hits April 19 in the doubleheader sweep at St. Olaf.

Schramel was joined by four other MIAC student-athletes on the 11-man Academic All-District VI team: Saint Mary's sophomore pitcher James Green and junior outfielder Matthew Piechowski, St. Olaf senior infielder Luke Dahl and St. Thomas senior pitcher Henry DeCaster. The Academic All-District honorees are now eligible for Academic All-America distinction, which is scheduled to be announced June 4.
