MONTICELLO, Minn. - No. 17 Saint John's golf defeated No. 24 St. Thomas 292-299 on Sunday, April 7, at Monticello C.C. (par 71) in Monticello.

The Johnnies also retained the Johnnie-Tommie Cup with a 6-4 victory in match play.

Junior Matt Wahl (Minnetonka, Minn./Hopkins) led SJU with an even-par 71 to tie for second out of the 20 golfers. 

The Johnnies' other four scorers finished in the top eight. Sophomore Esten Stensrud (Glenwood, Minn./Minnewaska Area) tied for fourth with a 73 (+2), while senior Jack Koehler (Eden Prairie, Minn.) and junior David Schneider (Albany, Minn.) each carded a 74 (+3). Junior Matt Lutz (Maple Grove, Minn./Totino-Grace) led SJU's individuals with a 75 (+4).

The Johnnies compete at Gustavus Adolphus' Bobby Krig Invitational next Sunday-Monday, April 14-15, at the Le Sueur C.C. (par 70).
