Johnnies Open Trip With 5-2 Loss to Division I Hampton

ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. - on Monday, March 4, at Sanlando Park in Alatamonte Springs, Fla.

The Johnnies (1-2 overall) won two of the three doubles matches and No. 6 singles by default, but the competition was played under NCAA Division I rules (doubles competition counts as one point).
 
The Pirates (1-6 overall) won the other five singles matches in straight sets.

Sophomores Thomas Gillach (Lindstrom, Minn./Chisago Lakes) and Nate Jordre (St. Cloud, Minn./Tech) improved to 3-0 this spring with a 6-2 win at No. 1 doubles, while junior Jess Hansen (Dawson, Minn./Dawson-Boyd) and senior Hunter Krebsbach (St. Paul, Minn./Mounds View) posted a 6-1 win at No. 3.

The Johnnies play two matches on Tuesday, March 4. SJU takes on Monmouth (Ill.) at 11 a.m. ET at Lake Eva Community Park in Haines City, Fla., followed by a 7 p.m. bout with Division I Appalachian State at the Lake Cane Tennis Center in Orlando.
