NORTHFIELD, Minn. - No. 17 Saint John's basketball pulled away from St. Olaf for a 74-57 road win on Saturday, Feb. 9, in Northfield.

The Johnnies (19-4, 15-3 MIAC) went 19 of 23 (82.6 percent) from the free-throw line and held the Oles (11-12, 10-8 MIAC) to 21.2 percent (7-for-33) shooting in the second half. SJU out-rebounded STO, 41-27.

The visitors shot 51.9 percent (14-for-27) from the floor and went into halftime with a five-point lead (37-32) and started the second half with a 7-0 run. The Oles came to within six (49-43) at the 13:18 mark, but SJU scored five straight points and led by as little as eight the rest of the way.

Junior wing Jubie Alade (Plymouth, Minn./Robbinsdale Armstrong) led all scorers, and four Johnnies in double figures, with 18 points. He also grabbed seven rebounds.

Junior post Lucas Walford (Elko, Minn./New Prague) posted his third consecutive double-double, and fourth in his last five games, with 15 points and 11 rebounds. Sophomore post Zach Hanson (New Prague, Minn.) added 10 points, due in large part to an 8-for-10 showing at the charity stripe, and five rebounds.

Senior guard David Stokman (Maple Lake, Minn.) added 14 points, 13 of which came in the second half, with seven boards and five assists. The 14 points enabled Stokman to move past Norb Kowalkowski '59 and Paul Bernabei '69 into fifth on SJU's all-time scoring list with 1,416 career points.

Dominic Bledsoe led STO with 15 points and six rebounds. The Oles ended the day at 32.3 percent (20-for-62) overall and 25 percent (8-for-32) from behind the arc.

The Johnnies return home to host No. 5 St. Thomas (21-2, 17-1 MIAC) at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 13, in Sexton Arena. Tickets can be purchased online ahead of time at www.gojohnnies.com/tickets. The Tommies fell at home to Augsburg (17-6, 13-5 MIAC) today, 88-86.
