ST. CLOUD, Minn. – Saint John's hockey bounced back with a 5-0 shutout of Wisconsin-Stout on Saturday, Nov. 16, at the Municipal Athletic Complex in St. Cloud.
All five goals were even-strength and 13 different Johnnies recorded a point in the victory.
Junior goaltender
Mac Berglove (Elk River, Minn.) made 28 saves to record his second collegiate shutout.
Junior forward
Ryan Kero (Hermantown, Minn.) put SJU (2-1-2, 1-0-1 MIAC) on the scoreboard with his third goal of the season, and second of the weekend, 8:19 into the game.
Sophomore forward
Brady Dahl (Rochester, Minn.) made it 2-0 thanks to his first goal of the season with 3:34 remaining in the first period before senior forward
Kyle Wagner (St. Francis, Minn.) lit the lamp twice, at the 13:26 mark of the second period and 1:49 into the third.
Sophomore forward
Russell Harren (Wasilla, Alaska) ended the scoring with his first collegiate goal with 3:58 remaining in the game.
SJU out-shot the Blue Devils (0-5-1, 0-0-0 WIAC) 36-28, of which 10 shots came during a 0-for-4 showing on the power play. The Johnnies' penalty kill, meanwhile, held Stout without a shot on two power-play opportunities.
The Johnnies return to conference play with a pair of home games against Concordia-Moorhead (2-5, 0-2 MIAC) next weekend (Nov. 23-24) at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center in St. Cloud. The series opens with a 7 p.m. puck-drop Saturday, followed by a 2 p.m. game Sunday.
