COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. – Saint John's soccer suffered a 1-0 non-conference loss to Wisconsin-Superior on Saturday, Oct. 26, at Haws Field.
The game's lone goal was a penalty kick by Scott Wilson in the 65th minute for the Yellowjackets (13-3-2, 8-0-0 UMAC), the fourth allowed by SJU this season.
Senior captain
Leighton Lommel (Waite Park, Minn./St. Cloud Apollo) had an opportunity to tie the game for SJU (8-7, 4-4 MIAC) with a penalty kick of his own, a second into the 72nd minute, but UWS' Ulrik Lager made a sprawling save. He finished with 10 stops on the afternoon.
Senior goalkeeper
Payton Spencer (Hudson, Wis.) made six saves in the loss.
SJU out-shot UWS 19-16 (10-7 on goal), including a 13-9 edge in the second half.
The Johnnies return to conference play for the final week of the regular season on Tuesday, Oct. 29, at Bethel (6-9-1, 1-7-1 MIAC). The game is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. in Arden Hills.
