SJU Falls at Augsburg, 4-2

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Augsburg dealt Saint John's a 4-2 setback on Wednesday night, Oct. 16, in Minneapolis.

The Auggies (7-5-2, 2-4-0 MIAC) built a 4-0 lead until SJU (8-5, 4-3 MIAC) scored a pair of milestone goals in the game's final 10 minutes. Senior forward Ben Becker (Richfield, Minn./Holy Angels) erased the shutout with his seventh goal of the season, and 15th of his career, on a rebound off a corner kick in the 80th minute.

Senior forward Kagan Foster (Alexandria, Minn.) ended the scoring with his team-leading eighth goal of the season, and 10th of his career, with 3:57 remaining.

Daniel Hedstrom scored first for the Auggies in the 19th minute and Lionel Vang made it 2-0 with the first of his three goals on the night in the 41st minute. Vang added to his total in the 68th minute and completed the hat trick on a penalty kick with 11:58 to play.

Senior Nicholas French (Waterford, Wis.) made three saves in the loss as Augsburg held a slight edge in shots, 18-17 (7-5 on goal).

The Johnnies return home to host St. Olaf (7-6, 3-3 MIAC) for a noon game on Sunday, Oct. 20, at Haws Field in Collegeville.
