WINONA, Minn. – No. 4 Saint John's returned to its winning ways with a 79-46 victory at Saint Mary's on Monday, Feb. 5, in Winona.
SJU (19-2, 15-1 MIAC) started the game with a 21-3 run and led 50-16 at halftime. All 15 Johnnies played, of which 14 recorded a point or more.
Saint Mary's (1-20, 0-16 MIAC) made only four shots (16.7 percent, 4-for-24) in the first half and finished at 27.3 percent (15-for-55) for the game, thanks to four makes in its final six shot attempts. The Johnnies recorded a 50-33 advantage on the glass and out-scored the Cardinals 18-6 off turnovers.
Senior post
Tyler Weiss (Shakopee, Minn.) led all scorers with 17 points and grabbed six rebounds in 18 minutes of play. He now has 1,272 career points, two behind former teammate Mitchell Kuck '16 for 11th on SJU's all-time scoring list.

Jubie Alade (Plymouth, Minn./Robbinsdale Armstrong) followed with 12 points off the bench.

Lucas Walford (Elko, Minn./New Prague) collected eight points, nine rebounds, three blocks and three steals in 16 minutes on the floor.
SJU is now 87-21 against the Cardinals since the 1964-65 season, including wins in each of the last 11 meetings in Winona and the last 22 overall.
The Johnnies return to Collegeville to host Carleton (12-9, 10-6 MIAC) at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 7, in Sexton Arena. SJU can clinch a share of the MIAC regular-season title with a win in its final four games, or claim the championship outright (and top seed in the MIAC Playoffs) with a win and a St. Olaf loss. The Oles are idle Wednesday night.
