COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. – Saint John's swimming and diving won 10 events en route to a 155-131 dual win over Hamline, the Johnnies' first competition of 2018, on Friday, Jan. 12, in Collegeville.
The Johnnies recorded 14 top-two finishes on the afternoon.
Freshman
Mitchell Dockendorf (St. Stephen, Minn./Sartell-St. Stephen) won both the 100-yard backstroke (54.43) and 100-yard freestyle (48.91). His time in the 100-yard freestyle is the ninth-fastest in the MIAC so far this season.
Senior
Christian Cancino (Flagstaff, Ariz.) touched the wall first in the 1,000-yard freestyle (10:57.14) and classmate
Curtis Noecker (St. Paul, Minn./Highland Park) claimed first in the 50-yard freestyle (22.55).
Sophomore
Ryan Pauley (Columbus, Neb.) placed first in the 100-yard butterfly (54.76) and freshman
Eli Greenblat (Plymouth, Minn./Wayzata) did the same in the 200-yard individual medley (2:08.72).
Seniors
Josh Tomporowski (St. Cloud, Minn./Sauk Rapids-Rice) and
Tyler Urbanski (Lexington, Minn./Centennial) took first and second, respectively, in both the 1- and 3-meter dives.
SJU's 200-yard medley (1:41.78;
Mick Olson,
Jacob Upton, Pauley, Noecker) and 200-yard freestyle (1:29.48;
Dominick Thompson,
Zach Kennedy,
Joe Vorderbruggen, Cancino) relays both took first place.
The Johnnies travel to compete at the St. Thomas Invitational at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 13, in St. Paul.
