COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. – Loras (Iowa) slipped past Saint John's soccer by a 1-0 score on Sunday, Sept. 10, at Haws Field.

The Duhawks' (3-1 overall) Javi Simon scored the game's lone goal, his fourth of the young season, on a penalty kick 21:04 into the match.

Senior midfielder Tyler Street (Beaverton, Ore./Jesuit) had a chance to tie the game on a penalty kick of his own in the 76th minute, what would have been his second in as many days, but was denied by Loras' Jacob Peterson. Peterson also stopped Street's rebound attempt to maintain the shutout.

Sophomore goalkeeper Payton Spencer (Hudson, Wis.) made his third collegiate start in net and stopped 11 shots in the loss.

The game was delayed an hour and three minutes due to lightning prior to the start of the second half. 

The Johnnies open MIAC play with a 4 p.m. match this Wednesday, Sept. 13, at Concordia-Moorhead.
