ST. CLOUD, Minn. – No. 14 Saint John's golf won the annual Johnnie-Tommie Cup on Monday, April 17, at Territory G.C. (par 72) in St. Cloud.

The Johnnies won the match play, 7-5, though the Tommies won the stroke play, 297-305.

Riley Gannon, UST's No. 5 player, earned medalist honors with a 2-under 70. The Tommies' Matt Mellin, an individual, took second with an even-par 72 and senior Collin Seal (Victoria, Minn./Chanhassen), also an individual, finished third for SJU with a 1-over par 73.

Junior Sam Olson (Sioux Falls, S.D./O'Gorman) led SJU's varsity with a 2-over par 74 to tie for fourth. Seniors Wes Dickhaus (Melrose, Minn.) and Ryan Gallagher (Shoreview, Minn./Mounds View) followed in a tie for eighth with a 76 (+4) each.

Freshman Jake Jensen (Farmington, Minn.) tied for fourth with Olson with a career-best 74 (+2), but was not involved in the match play.

The Johnnies travel south to compete at the two-day Gustavus Adolphus Invitational on Sunday and Monday, April 23-24. Sunday's round will be played at Ridges at Sand Creek at Jordan, followed by 36 holes Monday at Le Sueur C.C.
