Game 1 Box Score | Game 2 Box Score

FT. MYERS, Fla. – No. 29 Saint John's baseball and Elms (Mass.) played to a doubleheader split on Wednesday, March 8, in Fort Myers, Fla.

An unearned run proved to be the difference in game one's 5-4 loss, the Johnnies' third one-run defeat of the season, while a pair of three-run innings fueled SJU (7-4 overall) to a 6-3 win in game two. Elms (1-7 overall) posted a 32-13 record last season. Seven of the Blazers' nine batters in the lineup Wednesday were seniors.

Freshman outfielder Wyatt Ulrich (Indus, Minn./International Falls), in his collegiate debut, and junior infielder Jeron Terres (Cold Spring, Minn./Rocori) each went 4-for-8 on the day.

Sophomore outfielder Tommy Auger (St. Cloud, Minn./Cathedral) batted 2-for-3 with three RBI, including a two-run double that broke a 3-3 tie in the fifth inning, in game two.

Sophomore Danny Kuhn (Alexandria, Minn.) made his varsity debut on the hill in game one, allowing four runs on five hits in two innings. Junior Ted Christian (Le Center, Minn./Tri-City United) took the loss, allowing the unearned run on two hits in four innings of relief.

After going 1-for-2 with two RBI as the designated hitter in game one, sophomore Cameron Jurek (Foley, Minn.) took the ball in game two and allowed two runs on seven hits in six innings to earn the win. He struck out four and walked two. Junior Ben Etzell (Greenbank, Wash./Coupeville) allowed a run and two hits in the seventh inning but struck out the game's final two batters, with runners on the corners, to seal the victory.

Junior infielder Brennan Swan (Plymouth, Minn./Totino-Grace) and sophomore outfielder Max Jackson (St. Paul, Minn./Cretin-Derham Hall) collected three hits apiece on the day.

The Johnnies play Haverford (Pa.) and Defiance (Ohio) for a nine-inning game each at 9 a.m. EST and noon EST, respectively, Thursday, March 9, at Terry Park 2.
