COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. – No. 24 Saint John's basketball held St. Olaf to 29.6 percent (16-for-54) shooting in a 72-46 win on Saturday, Dec. 9, in Collegeville.
SJU (6-1, 3-0 MIAC) shot 62.5 percent (15-for-24) from the floor in the first half to build a 38-20 halftime lead. The Johnnies finished at 50 percent (27-for-54) for the game and led by as much as 29 in the second half. The home team led by 16 points or more for the game's final 22:03.
The Johnnies out-scored the Oles (5-2, 2-2 MIAC) 36-8 in the paint and recorded a 39-26 advantage on the glass.
Senior post
Tyler Weiss (Shakopee, Minn.) fell one point shy of his second consecutive 20-point game, on 7-for-8 shooting, and grabbed five rebounds in 27 minutes.
Sophomore wing
Jubie Alade (Plymouth, Minn./Robbinsdale Armstrong) finished one rebound away from his first collegiate double-double with 12 points and nine boards.
Junior guard
David Stokman (Maple Lake, Minn.) totaled nine points and sophomore post
Lucas Walford (Elko, Minn./New Prague) added five points, eight rebounds and two blocks in 19 minutes off the bench.
Austin Korba led STO with 13 points and four assists.
