First-Period Flurry Tilts in Favor of St. Olaf in 3-1 SJU Loss

NORTHFIELD, Minn. –Three of the game's four goals were scored in a 61-second span in a 3-1 Saint John's loss at St. Olaf on Friday, Nov. 17, in Northfield.

St. Olaf's Connor Smith scored an empty-net goal with 17.5 seconds remaining to seal the win.

Freshman forward Tristyn Sabina (Kansas City, Mo.) gave SJU (5-2, 1-2 MIAC) a short-lived 1-0 lead with his first collegiate goal 9:22 into the game, but St. Olaf answered 15 seconds later (Chris Koziel) and gained a 2-1 lead 46 seconds after that (Tobias Gabrielsen).

Sophomore goaltender Andrew Lindgren (Minneapolis, Minn.) made 15 saves as SJU out-shot the Oles 28-18 in the loss.

The Johnnies return home to host the Oles for a 2 p.m. puck-drop on Saturday, Nov. 18, at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center in St. Cloud.
