Box Score

COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. – Saint John's soccer posted a 1-0 shutout of Minnesota-Morris in a non-conference game on Sunday, Oct. 8, at Haws Field in Collegeville.

The Johnnies (4-5-2, 2-2-2 MIAC) out-shot the Cougars (6-6-1, 4-2-1 UMAC) 31-9 in the match, including an 11-5 margin on net.

Freshman Paul Wadsworth (Tacoma, Wash./Stadium) scored what proved to be the game-winning goal, his fourth tally of the season, 10:44 into the match. A give-and-go between juniors Zack Boerjan (Woodbury, Minn./East Ridge) and Rene Cabrera (Medford, Ore./South Medford) set up a clear cross to Wadsworth in the middle of the box. Wadsworth now has a goal in each of his last four games.

Sophomore Payton Spencer (Hudson, Wis.) made five saves to earn his first collegiate shutout and improve to 3-2-1 on the year.

The Johnnies continue non-conference play with a 7 p.m. match against Wisconsin-Superior on Wednesday, Oct. 11, at the NBC Spartan Sports Complex in Superior, Wis.
