COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. – A deep three-pointer from the top of the key from Zach Kinny with 0.2 seconds remaining gave Concordia-Moorhead a 74-73 win at Saint John's on Wednesday, Jan. 4, in Collegeville.

Tyler Weiss gave SJU (7-3, 3-2 MIAC) a two-point lead, 73-71, with a traditional three-point play with 14 seconds remaining. Weiss led all scorers with 22 points, his fourth 20-point game of the season, on 10 of 17 shooting. He also added eight rebounds, three blocks and two assists.
Kinny took the exchange at the top of the key and heaved a prayer behind a number of bodies with two seconds left and hit nothing but net. He finished with eight points, 10 rebounds, six assists and two blocks for CC (6-4, 3-2 MIAC).
The Cobbers shot 60 percent (15-for-25) from the field in the second half and finished at 48.3 percent (28-for-58) for the game. The visitors entered the game averaging 7.2 treys per contest and shooting 37.1 percent (65-for-175) from behind the arc in their previous nine game, but finished at 52.4 percent (11-for-21) Wednesday night.
SJU trailed by as much as 10 (57-47) with 10:40 to go and by eight (70-62) with 3:09 left, but went on a 11-1 run before Kinny's game-winning three-pointer.

Concordia out-rebounded the Johnnies 38-29, including an 11-6 margin on the offensive glass, but the home team posted a 11-8 scoring edge in second-chance points. SJU also registered a 19-8 scoring advantage off turnovers, which were 14-9 in favor of the Cobbers.
Austin Nelson led three Cobbers in double figures with 19. Dylan Alderman chipped in 18 and Austin Heins collected 13. The three combined to shoot 59.4 percent (19-for-32) from the field. The rest of the team made nine field goals on the night (9-for-26, 34.6 percent).
The win was just Concordia's seventh at Collegeville since the 1964-65 season (47-7 SJU record).
The Johnnies travel south to face Gustavus Adolphus (3-8, 3-3 MIAC) for a 3 p.m. game this Saturday, Jan. 7, in St. Peter.
