SJU Earns Season's First Win With 1-0 Shutout of MSOE

Box Score

COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. – Saint John's soccer bounced back from Saturday's overtime loss to earn a 1-0 win over the Milwaukee School of Engineering (Wis.) on Sunday, Sept. 4, at Haws Field in Collegeville.

Junior forward Nic Kramer (Savage, Minn./Prior Lake) provided the game's lone goal in the 21st minute on a nice pass from classmate Daniel Bruckbauer (Fargo, N.D./Shanley). Bruckbauer split the top of the box with a strong feed past an MSOE defender to a hard-charging Kramer.

Freshman goalkeeper Nicholas French (Waterford, Wis.) did the rest, stopping all seven shots aimed at his direction for the shutout in his first collegiate start for SJU (1-1, 0-0 MIAC).

SJU out-shot the Raiders (0-2, 0-0 NACC) by a 17-12 margin, though the visitors held an 8-3 edge on net. MSOE advanced to the NCAA Division III playoffs each of the past two seasons.

The Johnnies continue non-conference play with a 7:30 p.m. match at Minnesota-Morris this Wednesday, Sept. 7.
