NORTHFIELD, Minn. – Saint John's soccer advanced to the MIAC Playoff semifinals with a 3-0 win at Carleton on Tuesday, Nov. 1, in Northfield.
Thanks to the 2-1 win by sixth-seeded Augsburg at third-seeded Gustavus Adolphus in the other quarterfinal, the fifth-seeded Johnnies (7-8-3, 5-4-1 MIAC) earned a trip to second-seeded Macalester for a 7 p.m. semifinal on Wednesday, Nov. 2, in St. Paul. The Scots (12-3-3, 6-2-2 MIAC) escaped Haws Field with a 3-2 overtime win over the Johnnies last Tuesday (Oct. 25).
The win was the Johnnies' first at Carleton since Oct. 1, 2005 (1-0), which was also the last time SJU shut out the Knights.

Dylan Lehrer (Prior Lake, Minn.) gave SJU a 1-0 lead with his fifth goal of the season, and ninth of his career, off a corner kick to the far post from sophomore midfielder

Nicholas French (Waterford, Wis.) improved to 7-5-3 despite not being credited with a save in the win. SJU out-shot the Knights (9-6-3, 5-3-2 MIAC) by an 11-5 margin (6-0 on goal) and posted an 8-3 advantage in corner kicks.
