Box Score
COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. – Saint John's soccer scored two goals in the first three minutes en route to a 2-0 win over Concordia-Moorhead on Saturday, Oct. 15, at Haws Field.
Junior
Daniel Bruckbauer (Fargo, N.D./Shanley) put SJU (5-5-3, 4-2-1 MIAC) on the scoreboard 31 seconds into the match, the fastest goal by a Johnnie since Ben Bahr '03 found the net 16 seconds into SJU's 6-1 home win over St. Olaf on Nov. 1, 2000. Sophomore
Zack Boerjan (Woodbury, Minn./East Ridge) ripped a shot near the top of the box off a Cobber defender and the deflection went directly to Bruckbauer, who smoked a shot to the far post for his third tally of the season.
The Boerjan-Bruckbauer combination found the net again 2:27 later. Senior
Sam Newman (St. Louis, Mo./Priory) fed Bruckbauer, who chipped a nice pass to Boerjan on his left and the sophomore did the rest. Boerjan zoomed past the Cobber defender and trickled a shot to the far post for his fourth goal of the season.
Concordia (4-9-1, 0-8-0 MIAC) had a goal called back due to offsides with 15 minutes left in the first half and senior
Dylan Lehrer (Prior Lake, Minn.) hit the crossbar with 5:32 remaining before halftime.
Freshman
Nicholas French (Waterford, Wis.) made seven saves to improve to 5-4-3 (4-2-1 MIAC) on the year. He left the game following a collision in the box in the 58th minute and shared the shutout with classmate
Payton Spencer (Hudson, Wis.).
The Johnnies host Wisconsin-Superior (6-7, 5-1 UMAC) for their final non-conference game of the regular season at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 16, in Collegeville.
