Junior Sam Newman (St. Louis, Mo./Priory) scored what proved to be the game-winning goal 11:25 into the match on a nice crossing pass from classmate Rocky Harmon (Hudson, Wis.). The goal was Newman's fourth in his last eight games and sixth of his career. Four of his six career goals have been game-winners.Sophomore
Alex Schnobrich (Houlton, Wis./Shattuck-St. Mary's) gave SJU (7-1-2, 3-0-1 MIAC) a 2-0 lead with his first goal of the season in the 28th minute. A blocked shot fell to the feet of Schnobrich, who ripped a shot inside the right post. Schnobrich scored both goals in the 2-0 win over Augsburg last fall (Oct. 18) in Collegeville.

Cole Howard (Ridgefield, Wash./Skyview) ended the scoring with his first goal of the season in the 59th minute. Following an Augsburg yellow card, Schnobrich curved the free kick off junior

SJU started the day ranked No. 20 nationally, but fell out of the top 25 in the National Soccer Coaches' Association of America (NSCAA) poll released this afternoon due to its 1-1 tie at Carleton Sept. 26. The team also fell from third to fifth in the NSCAA North Region rankings.
The Johnnies make a brief return to non-conference action with a 2 p.m. match this Sunday, Oct. 4, at Wisconsin-Superior.
