Senior
Paul Wageman (Roseville, Minn./DeLaSalle) gave SJU (8-1-2, 3-0-1 MIAC) a 1-0 lead with his team-leading fifth goal of the season in the 36th minute, a header on a beautiful cross into the box from sophomore
Daniel Bruckbauer (Fargo, N.D./Shanley).
The scoring combination struck again, this time off the foot of Bruckbauer in the 75th minute. Bruckbauer chipped a shot, off a corner kick from Wageman, over the Yellowjackets' goalkeeper to the far corner of the net for his second goal of the season. Both of his goals have served as game-winners this fall.
Jonah Garcia cut SJU's lead in half with a goal for Superior (10-3, 4-1 UMAC) less than four minutes later.
Senior
Kevin Lebahn (New Hope, Minn./Benilde-St. Margaret's) made one save to improve to 8-1-2 on the year and earn his 30th career victory (30-17-6 record).
Both teams entered the match listed in the National Soccer Coaches' Association of America (NSCAA) North Region rankings, SJU at No. 5 and Superior at No. 10.
The Johnnies return to MIAC play with a 1 p.m. match at Bethel on Saturday, Oct. 10, in Arden Hills.
