COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. – Saint John's University (Minn.) Athletic Director Tom Stock announced Monday, April 6, that three individuals have been invited to campus as finalists in the institution's search for a new head basketball coach.

The candidates include Paul Grove, head coach at the University of Minnesota-Morris; Caleb Lawson, assistant coach at Washington University (Mo.); and SJU assistant coach Pat McKenzie '04.

The candidates will each be on campus for one day Wednesday through Friday, April 8-10, for interviews with members of the university's administration and athletic department. Media are welcome to attend the public forums for each finalist.

Grove will be on campus Wednesday and his public forum is scheduled from 1:15-2 p.m. in the Centenary Room (room 264) on the second floor of the SJU Quadrangular. Lawson's public forum is from 1:45-2:30 p.m. Thursday in the Founders Room (Quad 170). McKenzie will have his forum from 1:45-2:30 p.m. Friday in the Founders Room.

Grove completed his 13th season as head coach at Minnesota-Morris in February. He is second all-time in the program for wins with a 168-176 record (106-60 UMAC) and has a 274-240 career record over 20 seasons of college basketball. Prior to Morris, Grove compiled a 90-64 record at NAIA Mayville State (N.D.) from 1997-2002 and coached Normandale Community College during the 1995-96 season. He is a 1989 graduate of Gustavus Adolphus.

Lawson recently finished his eighth season as an assistant coach at Washington (Mo.). The Bears have advanced to the NCAA Division III tournament each of the past four seasons and eight of the last nine. Lawson was a part-time assistant on the 2009 national championship team and served as a graduate assistant at Division I Austin Peay (Tenn.) during the 2007-08 campaign. He graduated from Maryville (Mo.) in 2007 and served as an assistant coach there for three seasons.

A 2004 graduate of SJU, McKenzie completed his ninth season as assistant basketball coach to Jim Smith in 2014-15. The Johnnies recorded the second-most wins (110) in conference play during McKenzie's nine-year tenure as an assistant. He returned to Collegeville after two seasons as director of basketball operations at Division I Wisconsin-Green Bay from 2004-06. As a collegiate player, McKenzie manned the point guard position as a four-year letter-winner for the Johnnies. He led the MIAC in assists as a senior and was a member of the Johnnies' NCAA Division III Sweet 16 team as a freshman.
