Box ScoreST. CLOUD, Minn. – Concordia-Moorhead completed a weekend sweep of Saint John's, its first in St. Cloud since 2000, with a 3-2 win on Saturday, Nov. 7, at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center in St. Cloud.
Following a scoreless first period, the Cobbers (3-1, 2-0 MIAC) jumped out to a 2-0 lead with a pair of goals 34 seconds apart from Jon Grebosky and Mario Bianchi in the second period.
Senior captain
Andrew Commers (Edina, Minn.) cut the deficit in half for SJU (0-3-1, 0-2-0 MIAC) on an own-goal, on the power play, with 37 seconds left in the second period. Commers centered a pass in front of the net where it glanced off a CC defenseman's leg and into the back of the net.
Jake Stilwell tallied what proved to be the game-winning goal 2:59 into the third period.
Junior
Kevin Becker (Roseville, Minn.) made it a one-goal game once again with his second of the year, on the power play, 2:04 later. Commers and sophomore
Tyler Dunagan (Maple Grove, Minn.) provided the assists.
Senior
Saxton Soley (Elk Mound, Wis.) made 25 saves in the loss.
SJU out-shot the Cobbers 38-28 in the game, including a 31-16 margin after the first period.
The Johnnies play host to nationally-ranked Wisconsin-Eau Claire for "PAC the MAC" night on Friday, Nov. 13. The opening faceoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at the Municipal Athletic Complex (MAC) in St. Cloud.
