Johnnies Tally Another Road Shutout, 1-0

Box Score

INDIANOLA, Iowa – A Saint John's goal from senior Zane Heinselman (River Falls, Wis.) 3:01 into the second half proved to be the difference in the Johnnies' 1-0 win at Simpson on Sunday, Aug. 31, in Indianola, Iowa.

Sophomore Tanner Heinselman (River Falls, Wis.), Zane's younger brother, blasted a corner kick off the far post, which then ricocheted back to the middle of the goal box where a properly-positioned Zane was able to put it away in the back of the net.

"I was impressed with how the boys were able to endure a six-hour bus ride and put together a strong 90 minutes of play tonight," SJU head coach John Haws said. "The artificial-grass surface added a different element to the match, but we found our legs and responded well."

Junior Kevin Lebahn (New Hope, Minn./Benilde-St. Margaret's) made three saves to earn his second shutout in as many matches for the Johnnies (2-0, 0-0 MIAC) to start the 2014 season.

Simpson (1-1, 0-0 IIAC) led in shots, 10-7, though SJU held a slight 4-3 edge on net.

The Johnnies return to the road with a pair of non-conference matches next weekend on the campus of Concordia University in Mequon, Wis. SJU is scheduled to face North Park (Ill.) at noon on Saturday, Sept. 6, followed by a 1 p.m. contest against Beloit (Wis.) on Sunday, Sept. 7.
