ST. CLOUD, Minn. – Freshman forward Nate Mondry's (Grand Rapids, Minn.) first collegiate goal 1:49 into overtime gave Saint John's a 3-2 win, and a weekend sweep, over Hamline on Saturday, Feb. 8, at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center in St. Cloud.

Though a win for SJU (13-8, 7-5 MIAC), the Johnnies earn only two points in the conference standings, instead of three points, since the game was not decided in regulation.

Senior Zach Knight (Minneapolis, Minn.) started Senior Day with his second goal of the season, and first since the 4-2 season-opening win against Hamline Nov. 1, 14:52 into the game. Junior defenseman Nick Senta (Savage, Minn.) and sophomore forward Neal Smith (Rogers, Minn.) tallied the assists.

Junior forward Phil Johnson (Duluth, Minn.) made it 2-0 for SJU with his second shorthanded goal of the season, off a feed from freshman forward Dan McNamara (Grand Rapids, Mich.), 1:26 into the second period.

The Pipers (2-18-1, 1-11-0 MIAC) battled back to tie the game at 2-2 with a pair of goals, 1:03 apart, in the final 1:50 of the second period.

Sophomore goaltender Saxton Soley (Elk Mound, Wis.) made 25 stops to improve to 11-6 on the year.

The Johnnies return to action with a 7 p.m. game against Bethel on Thursday, Feb. 13, at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center in St. Cloud.
