SJU (6-3-3, 4-1-1 MIAC) out-shot the Falcons (10-0, 2-0 WIAC) 22-14 in the game, but went 0-for-5 on the power play.
UWRF got on the scoreboard 33 seconds after an SJU power-play expired in the first period, then added two goals in the first 3:40 of the second period. Kyle Gattelaro added his second power-play goal of the game to complete the hat trick in the third.
Sophomore
Kevin Becker (Roseville, Minn.) led SJU with five shots on goal.
Junior
Jason Dzurik (Loretto, Minn.) made 10 saves in the loss, his second career start.
The Johnnies return to the ice in the New Year with a 7 p.m. game against top-ranked St. Norbert (Wis.) on Thursday, Jan. 8, at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center in St. Cloud.
