Johnnies Suffer First Hockey Loss, 2-1 at No. 11 St. Scholastica

DULUTH, Minn. – No. 14 Saint John's hockey suffered its first loss of the season by a 2-1 score at No. 11 St. Scholastica on Tuesday, Nov. 25, in Duluth.

St. Scholastica (6-1, 5-1 NCHA) gained a 1-0 lead with 3:16 left in the first period and added another, on the power play, 10:21 into the second.

Freshman Sam Valerius (Maple Grove, Minn.) cut the deficit in half for SJU (5-1-3, 3-0-1 MIAC) with his first collegiate goal in his first game as a Johnnie. Senior John Haeg (Lakeville, Minn.) and sophomore Daniel Tripicchio (Hudson, Wis.) collected the assists.

Junior Saxton Soley (Elk Mound, Wis.) made 18 saves in the loss.

The Johnnies returns to conference action at home against Augsburg at 7 p.m. next Friday, Dec. 5, at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center in St. Cloud.
