Johnnies Post a 282 (-6) in Three-Shot Win Over St. Cloud State

SAUK CENTRE, Minn. – No. 3 Saint John's shot a six-under par 282 to defeat Division II St. Cloud State by three shots, 282-285, on Friday, April 26, at Lynx National G.C. (par 72) in Sauk Centre.

Each school played six players with the top four scores counting toward the team score.

Junior Casey Vangsness (Alexandria, Minn.) led the 21 golfers with a three-under par 69 and six birdies. Senior Dennis Granath (Bandhagen, Sweden/Farsta Gymnasium) carded a two-under par 70 and sophomore Drew Lynch (Stillwater, Minn.) added a 71 (-1). Junior Tommy Koehler (Eden Prairie, Minn.) battled to an even-par 72 with five birdies and sophomore Derek Brinker (St. Michael, Minn./Heritage Academy, Fla.) followed suit with a 72 of his own. Sophomore Brett Draxler (Plymouth, Minn./Benilde-St. Margaret's) rounded out the Johnnies' six with a one-over par 73.

Senior Pat Cron (Eden Prairie, Minn./Benilde-St. Margaret's) led SJU's seven individual players with a career-best 72.

Devin Holmes led the Huskies with a two-under par 70, while Chase Hahne and Tyler Koivisto each added a 71 (-1).

The Johnnies host the 36-hole SJU Winter Invitational on Sunday, April 28, and the single-round SJU Spring Invitational on Monday, April 29, at Monticello C.C.
