TUCSON, Ariz. – Saint John's batted .466 and scored 27 runs in a doubleheader sweep, 17-3 and 10-4, of Middlebury (Vt.) on Monday, March 25, in Tucson, Ariz.
Junior Luke Larson (Bloomington, Minn./Jefferson) and sophomore Aaron Pfaff (New Ulm, Minn./Cathedral) each went 5-for-9 at the plate. Junior Dylan Graves (Mora, Minn.) was 4-for-9 with six RBI, including a three-run homer in game two.
Senior Scott Schroeder (Richmond, Minn./Rocori) earned the win in game one, allowing two runs on eight hits in five innings of work. Sophomore Jack Hamilton (Hopkins, Minn.) allowed one run in two innings of relief.
Senior Max Forster (Minnetonka, Minn./Hopkins) broke out of a funk with a 3-for-4 performance at the plate, with three runs scored and three RBI, in game one before sitting out the second game after taking a foul ball off his shin. His two-run single in the fifth inning was his 100th career hit.
Senior Adam Wenker (Sartell, Minn./Sartell-St. Stephen) tallied his first win of the season (1-2) in game two. He allowed four runs, one earned, in four innings. Junior Justin Thompson (Chanhassen, Minn./Chaska) and sophomore Collin Felhaber (North St. Paul, Minn.) combined for three innings of hitless relief.
The Johnnies (5-4 overall) take on Buena Vista (Iowa) for a nine-inning game at 10 a.m. local time Tuesday, March 26, and follow that with another full contest against Carthage (Wis.) at 2 p.m.
