ST. CLOUD, Minn. – Saint John's erased a 2-1 deficit with three even-strength goals in the third period to earn a 4-2 win over MIAC-leading St. Olaf on Thursday, Feb. 7, in St. Cloud.

The Johnnies (11-7-4, 6-4-3 MIAC) out-shot the Oles 34-18 in the game, including a 24-8 advantage over the final two periods.

St. Olaf (10-10-2, 9-4-0 MIAC) took advantage of an SJU penalty, the only infraction called on the evening, 20 seconds into the game. Jeff Harris tallied the power-play goal, his 16th of the season, 31 seconds into the man advantage. The power-play goal was just the second allowed by SJU in 43 chances during 12 MIAC games. The goal also snapped the Johnnies' 30-for-30 showing on the penalty kill in their last nine games.

Sophomore Dave Mylrea (Brooklyn Park, Minn.) tied the game with his second goal of the season just 3:01 later on the Johnnies' first shot attempt of the game. Senior Joe Harren (Warroad, Minn.) was credited with the assist.

Nick Marsh gave the lead back to the Oles with his first goal of the season at the 5:39 mark of the first period.

The Johnnies posted an 11-3 advantage in shots during the second period but could not get the puck past STO's Henrik Wood, who entered the game with a 1.50 GAA and a .951 save percentage in conference play. That is, until the third period.

Senior Jascha Pettit (Wadena, Minn.) tied the game at 2-2 with his seventh goal of the season, and 30th of this career, 6:56 into the final frame. Juniors Jason Johnson (Duluth, Minn.) and Axel Ramsgard (Gothenburg, Sweden) assisted on the scoring play.

Johnson tallied what proved to be the game-winner, his fifth goal of the season, 1:15 later. Pettit forced a turnover and then found Johnson, who smoked a wrister past Wood, stick-side.

Sophomore Phil Johnson (Duluth, Minn.) ended the scoring with his 11th goal of the year at the 17:37 mark. After an Ole defenseman slipped, Jason and Phil walked in on net all alone. Jason blasted a shot off Wood and Phil slapped the loose puck into the back of the net. The assist was Jason's third point of the period.

Freshman Saxton Soley (Elk Mound, Wis.) made 16 saves to improve to 10-4-1 on the year.

SJU blocked 21 shots in the game, including six in the final 1:20 with the Oles' boasting an extra attacker.

The Johnnies travel to face the Oles in the return game at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 8, at the Northfield Ice Arena.
